Swans 2 Westover Bournemouth 1
Swans Reserves recorded their first win of the season when they defeated league leaders Westover Bournemouth 2-1 at Day's Park in Dorset League Division 2.
The visitors lived up to their position of league leaders in the first half bossing the contest with the lion's share of the game, however the Swans defended strongly with grit and determination. Tom Chapman at the heart of the Swans defence and keeper Kadin Jacques were outstanding with Chapman making a superb block to deny the visitors a certain goal. Westover took the lead on 35 minutes when Connor Budden headed home from close range. H.T. 0-1.
The second half started in the same vein with the visitors on top, but the Swans were looking more threatening on the break. Sam Willcocks levelled for the Swans receiving a great pass from Matt Dunster, he then coolly slotted past the advancing keeper Robert Voysey. The visitors were now pressing for the winner and were denied by the underside of the crossbar from a vicious shot by Ben Hands and two headed clearances off the line from Arp and Crosland. The drama unfolded in the 89th minute when Simon Page received a superb pass from Sam Peacock, the linesman raised his flag for offside however the referee overruled him to allow Page to run on and coolly finish past keeper Voysey for a dramatic late goal to secure the points for the superbly dogged Swans.
