Big Derby Win

Swanage reserves travelled to Wareham on the back of 3 heavy defeats that the young team's performance did not deserve.
Swanage were buoyed by the return of the experienced Paul Yerby, John Grover and Nick Taylor.

With the wind against the Swans in the first half chances were scarce until Cody latched onto a superb through ball from John Grover. Grover took on 3 players in the Swanage half before threading a superb ball between the centre backs and Cody beautifully lobbed the keeper for 1-0. Swanage defended resolutely with Billy Russel and Taylor Hibbs performing well under constant instruction from Yerby. With 5 minutes left of the half Wareham capitalised on their possession with a sloppy equaliser taken well by their centre forward. 1-1 at half time.

Early in the second half Charlie Brassington took advantage of a poorly constructed wall to launch the ball into the bottom corner from a free kick on the edge of the box. 2-1.
From this point on Wareham attacked for the next 25 minutes but Swans stood firm, defended brilliantly and gave nothing away. Taylor Hibbs , Paul Yerby , Billy Russell and Calvin Saunders at the back looked assured and absorbed pressure with only a few half chances created during this period.
With swanage defending deeply a cross came into the Swans box on 88 minutes that Taylor punched clear and Brassington played a long ball forward, Dimarco won the header on the edge of Wareham's box and Gideon Troy smashed a volley into the top right hand corner. He hit it perfectly and the ball flew, (in slow motion for some of us) into the top corner. Queue the rapturous celebration from the Swans. 3-1 FT
Winning today was not easy to achieve, the young lads showed great maturity and the experience of Taylor, Yerby and Grover really helped to negotiate the difficult spells in the game. Special mention to Taylor Hibbs, Charlie Brassington and Sam Peacock for their play today, excellent football and did not stop running from start to finish.
