The Reserves started the game under pressure as Portland took the game to the young Swans.
They battled through the first 20 minutes with Paul Yerby & Adam Richards defending stoutly. The 1st half half had very few chances as both defences dominated. Swans best effort was an Adam Richards free kick which was well saved.
Taylor Hibbs was tested with 10 minutes of the first half left. He came out bravely to save at the feet of the Portland forward and received a head injury in the process.
HT 0-0.
The second half was a much more open affair with the younger Swans fitness the telling factor. On the hour Sam Peacock won a 50/50 in his own half and sent a long ball through to Cody Littleford who still had some work to do, as he beat the centre half and finished neatly past the Portland keeper.
1-0 Swans.
With 15 minutes remaining Peacock found Brassington in space and from 25 yards he hammered the ball into the bottom corner past the diving keeper.
2-0. Swans.
Being 2-0 to the good enabled the young Swans to play with confidence and produced their best football of the game, keeping the ball on the floor and playing some nice simple football.
Portland to their credit still attacked but the Swans back four stood strong and never in trouble.
As the game was drawing to a close the clean sheet looked in jeopardy as the referee deemed a handball from a Portland free kick, but the resulting penalty was well struck but hit the post which proved to be the last kick of the game.

The game was a fierce affair and the young Swans battled well against a very physical Portland outfit, playing some nice football at times and thoroughly deserved the 3 points.
