In front of a good level of support The Swans were slow out of the blocks and were 2-0 behind after 10 minutes. Gradually The Swans eased themselves back in the game and goals from Ivor Hughes and Roger Lockey levelled the score, then Lockey grabbed his second just before the interval to put his side ahead. H.T. 3-2.

Weymouth had a player sin-binned on the stroke of half time so although a man short clever retention of the ball meant they were able to see out the 5 minute penalty without conceding. With ten minutes remaining Derek Montague put his side further ahead, however slack defending enabled the visitors to pull a goal back to set up a tense finish, but 2 minutes later Brian Hunt wrapped up the 5-3 victory with a neat finish following a good move.
